Republic day is celebrated every year all over the country with enthusiasm. To mark  the importance of the day a grand parade is held in the Capitol New Delhi, from Raisina hill near Rashtrapathi bhavan along Rajpath, past India Gate, and onto the Historic Red Fort.

FACTS ABOUT INDIAN REPUBLIC DAY

  1. On this special day for the Grand parade, India invites a special chief guest from other countries. The very first chief guest of Republic Day of India was President Sukarno of Indonesia.
  2. The Constitution of India was adopted on  26, November  1949.
  3. The Constitution of India came into force on 26,January 1950.
  4. On Republic day bravery awards like Veer chakra, Maha veer chakra,, Kirti chakra, Asoka chakra ,Param veer chakra awarded.
  5. 26 January was chosen as Republic day  because it coincided with the anniversary of Purna swaraj day(26 january 1930)
  6. National flag of India was adopted on July 22 1947, few days before the Indepence from the British.
  7. Republic day is a 3-day long celebration accompanied by performances and Drills.
  8. A Beating retreat is held at the end of the Republic day celebrations.
  9. With the sonud of  buglers exactly at  6 pm, the National flag is lowerded and the national anthem is sung. This concludes the republic day celebration.
  10. 'Abide with me'--a christian hymn is played at the republic day function. It is said to be Mahatma Gandhi's favourite.
  11. Indian constitution is the largest written constitution in the world.At first the constitution contained 395 articles and 8 schedules.
  12. The first republic day parade was held at Rajpath in 1950.
  13. And for the last news the For this Republic day the special guest is P.M  Boris Johnson of United Kingdom.
